GNEE STEEL recently completed a large-scale supply of galvanized steel grating for an industrial tank platform upgrade project in Qatar, delivering more than 480 tons of high-strength grating materials to support the region’s petrochemical safety improvement initiative. The project aims to enhance the structural reliability and maintenance efficiency of tank access walkways, where long-term exposure to extreme temperatures, high humidity, chemical vapors, and salt-laden winds has created stringent performance requirements. The customer needed a grating solution capable of withstanding heavy operational loads while ensuring superior corrosion resistance and anti-slip performance.

To meet these demands, GNEE STEEL recommended a customized series of load-bearing galvanized steel grating panels manufactured with 30×3 mm and 40×5 mm bearing bars, depending on the load zones around the tank. All panels were hot-dip galvanized to a zinc coating thickness of ≥610 g/m², offering extended durability in Qatar’s coastal industrial environment. This enhanced corrosion protection is particularly important in petrochemical sites where airborne salts and process emissions can significantly accelerate steel degradation.

Every grating panel used in this project was tailored according to the client’s detailed installation plan, including radial-shaped platforms around circular tanks, special maintenance access sections, and integrated cutouts for piping systems. GNEE STEEL’s automated welding lines ensured consistent weld strength, high dimensional accuracy, and optimal panel flatness to support safe and stable foot traffic. For added protection, serrated surface designs were applied to improve anti-slip friction, especially in areas prone to oil mist, moisture, and occasional chemical spill exposure.

To ensure seamless global delivery, GNEE STEEL prepared the cargo with export-standard packaging, including moisture-proof wrapping, steel-reinforced pallets, and edge-protection structures designed to prevent impact deformation during long-distance transport. The entire shipment was loaded following CAD-engineered container optimization plans, reducing transport risk and maximizing space utilization.
