Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel Grating with High Load Capacity and Serrated Anti-Slip Surface for Industrial Platforms

Galvanized steel grating is the default flooring choice for industrial platforms, mezzanines and rooftop walkways because it combines high load capacity, fast drainage, ventilation and proven corrosion protection — all in a panel that is light enough to install by hand and modular enough to cut or replace on site.

Each panel is welded from hot-rolled bearing bars and twisted-square cross bars, then hot-dip galvanized after fabrication (HDG) per ASTM A123 / ISO 1461. The zinc coating forms a metallurgical bond with the steel, giving 20-50+ years of service life in most atmospheres without repainting — the reason galvanized steel grating is the workhorse of every plant, port and rooftop walkway.

Typical build-up:

• Base steel: Q235B / ASTM A36 / S275JR (stainless 304 / 316 available on request)
• Surface: plain (smooth) or serrated (anti-slip)
• Coating: hot-dip galvanized, average ≥ 85 µm (≈ 610 g/m²) per ISO 1461
• Panel size: standard 1 m × 6 m, cut-to-size per layout drawing

Two patterns cover roughly 80% of platform and walkway orders. The figure is the centre-to-centre spacing of the bearing bars, in millimetres.

The most common spec we ship for platforms and walkways is "19-W-4" style: bearing bars at 1-3/16 in. (≈ 30 mm) on centre, twisted cross bars at 4 in. (102 mm) on centre.

Industrial Platforms and Mezzanines

For mezzanine and equipment platforms, galvanized steel grating gives you high strength-to-weight, open area for sprinkler coverage and easy replacement of single panels when an area is damaged.

Walkways and Catwalks

For elevated walkways at height, weight matters: galvanized grating is roughly one third the weight of solid checker plate for the same deflection, while still draining water and allowing light through.

Rooftop Walkways and Service Platforms

A level walkway path on the roof protects the waterproofing membrane and provides safe access to HVAC, fans and antennas. Serrated surface is recommended where rain or condensation is common.

Drainage and Trench Covers

Galvanized grating is also widely used as trench cover and floor drain, sized to span the trench and load-class rated.
